Madeleine Shepherd is a textile artist with a wide-ranging practice. She uses felting, stitching and knitting to explore texture and form and is inspired by ideas from mathematics, the natural world, science fiction - and sometimes all three at once! In the last few year she's worked on a number of large scale art and science projects including, the Mathematician's Shirts, Botanica Mathematica and a one metre square soft-sculpture of the neuraminidase protein on the flu virus for the Australian Academy of Sciences.
